The Graça Funicular going down the hill
Lisbon’s iconic funiculars date from between 1884 and 1892, but this one was inaugurated in 2024. It goes up and down the hill between the viewpoint of Graça and the neighborhood of Mouraria (Rua dos Lagares), and was painted yellow to match the historic vehicles.

Inside the Graça Funicular
The very short journey of just 90 seconds and 78 meters (256 ft) is similar to that of another funicular that existed in the neighborhood between 1893 and 1904, but that was deactivated following the opening of a new tram route between downtown and Graça.

The modern funicular offers a panoramic view and takes 14 passengers at a time. Pets and bikes are allowed onboard. It departs every 10 minutes from both ends, between 9am and 9pm.
